Book Giveaway - Jantsen’s Gift by Pam Cope & Aimee Molloy
Anna from Hachette Books has set aside 5 copies of Jantsen’s Gift by Pam Cope & Aimee Molloy for five of my lucky readers. This memoir sounds intensely personal and full of hope.
Nine years ago, Pam Cope owned a cozy hair salon in the tiny town of Neosho, Missouri, and her life revolved around her son’s baseball games, her daughter’s dance lessons, and family trips to places like Disney World. She had never been out of the country, nor had she any desire to travel far from home.
Then, on June 16th, 1999, her life changed forever with the death of her 15-year-old son from an undiagnosed heart ailment.
Needing to get as far away as possible from everything that reminded her of her loss, she accepted a friend’s invitation to travel to Vietnam, and, from the moment she stepped off the plane, everything she had been feeling since her son’s death began to shift. By the time she returned home, she had a new mission: to use her pain to change the world, one small step at a time, one child at a time. Today, she is the mother of two children adopted from Vietnam. More than that, she and her husband have created a foundation called “Touch A Life,” dedicated to helping desperate children in countries as far-flung as Vietnam, Cambodia and Ghana.
Pam Cope’s story is on one level a moving, personal account of loss and recovery, but on a deeper level, it offers inspiration to anyone who has ever suffered great personal tragedy or those of us who dream about making a difference in the world.
If you’re interested in reading Pam’s inspiring story, here’s how you can enter to win a copy:
~ For one entry, leave a comment on this post. Just to make it interesting, tell me about a favorite memoir, biography, or autobiography you’ve read.
~ For a second entry, subscribe to my blog in Google Reader, Bloglines, or another feed reader, then leave me a comment telling me you did. If you already subscribe, tell me that - it counts, too!
~ For further entries, tweet about this post on Twitter, post it on your blog, Digg, or Stumble it. If you do all four, that’s four extra entries. Just be sure to come back and leave me a comment telling me which ones you did.
~ Hachette Books is mailing these out to the five lucky winners. The mailing guidelines are US and Canadian residents only; no P.O. boxes.
~ The contest ends at 11:59 pm PST, Sunday, April 19th. On April 20th, I’ll use Random.org to draw the five lucky winners.

One of my favorite biographies was Justin Morgan had a Horse by Marguerite Henry. I read the story as a teenager and loved it so much that I named one of my sons after him.
I think my favourite memoir was written by Ryan White. The book is called Ryan White; In my Own Words (if I’m remembering properly) Its about a young boy who was a hemophiliac and received HIV tainted product. The book is moving, educational and inspiring! His mom had to finish the book, as Ryan passed away before he finished it. I had all of my kids read his book when they were about 12.
Thanks very much!

Dear Anna…..I would love to have a copy of Pam’s book so please enter me in your contest? I married Pam’s uncle Jack in 1992 and he passed away in 2003. Pam’s story is even more incredible to someone who has known her and her family for many years….and another story I find most interesting is the one “unwritten” about her nephew, Dallas Hawkins. You see, there are more chapters in Pam’s family and I would encourage someone to seek out the story of her amazing sister Cheryl and her son Dallas and how this family pulled together in a fight for life.
I have read a lot of great reviews about this book. My favorite books are about people who are inspiring. This one is supposed to be great.
Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt was wonderful. It’s been years since I’ve read it, but it still haunts me.
Thanks again!
thx!. This one is great!!!
