“Waiting On” Wednesday is a feature hosted by Breaking the Spine in which book bloggers talk about the upcoming, soon-to-be-published books they are anticipating.

Here are the books we are looking forward to:

spiderwickbook.jpg
A Giant Problem (Behind the Spiderwick Chronicles) by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, release date September 16th. The Spiderwick series is my son Noah’s favorite series of books, hands down, and he is anxiously waiting for this one.

brinsingr.jpg
Brisingr (Book 3 in The Inheritance Cycle) by Christopher Paolini, release date September 20th. I loved Eragon, and I’m in the middle of Eldest in preparation for this next book. It was supposed to be the final installment in a trilogy, but Paolini said the story got too big for one book - which is a good thing, in my opinion. When I’m reading a good story, I’m always a little sad to see it end.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, release date September 30th. We loved Coraline when I read it aloud to the kids earlier this year - and I liked the short story that was included in Fragile Things that is a companion piece of sorts to this book. Creepy, but good. He is truly brilliant with words, though some of his stuff scares me silly.

inkdeath.jpg
Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke, release date October 6th. Another series that started as a read-aloud. I read book two, Inkspell, but chose not to read it aloud to the kids yet because it deals with some puberty issues in the main character and my boys are a little young for that. I enjoyed it very much, though, and am hoping for a satisfying resolution to the series. And I’m hoping that they don’t butcher the movie version of Inkheart that’s coming out next year.

Any books you’re anxiously awaiting?
