Blogging “Lost”

lost.png

Three hours to go. One tonight, then a week’s hiatus, then a two-hour finale on the 29th. I’m completely addicted to Lost again, the way I was during season 1. And last week? Locke saying, “He wants us to move the island.” Huh? So, I’m going to attempt to liveblog tonight’s episode, even though I’ve never done it before. Actually, I guess it won’t really be “live,” since I won’t publish until the episode is over. Oh, well.

Hey, look, it’s psycho-admiral lady from Battestar Galactica as the Oceanic 6’s tour guide off the island. And I was wrong in thinking that there was one more of the 6 to be revealed. I figured that Baby Aaron wouldn’t count, since he was still in utero when the plane crashed. I’m sure that’s not the first time one of my theories will be wrong.

I love how Hurley grabbed Sayid and introduced him to his parents. But poor Kate - no one there to meet her. And now we’re back to island-time.

What do you think - did Farraday and Lewis know that the island was meant to be destroyed? Ooo, Farraday lied - he knows what the Orchid is, he knows the island is about to be destroyed. I thought he was a good guy.

Commercials - cool trailer for the new M. Night Shyalaman movie The Happening.

And, we’re back. Jack and Kate traipsing through the jungle and come upon Miles. And Sawyer and Baby Aaron. The look on Sawyer’s face when he saw Kate - poor besotted tormented man. And, there goes Jack off to save the island all by himself - oh, no, Sawyer’s going, too.

Flash-forward: we see Oceanic’s public affairs lady explaining how they survived and were “carried by the ocean currents” to the island from the (phony) plane wreckage. And now Jack starts the lying. Sun says that Jin never made it off the plane. And now Kate is explaining how she gave birth on the island, and had been six months pregnant when the marshall arrested her. It sure seems like a good investigator could poke holes in their story pretty quickly.

Sayid gets his Nadia back. That scene is heartbreaking, since we already know she will be murdered by Widmore.

And, another commercial.

Okay, here’s Ben saying he’s taking Locke and Hurley to the Orchid, to move the island. Which he says is a “measure of last resort” that is “dangerous and unpredictable.” Ben uses a mirror to communicate with someone, and they head off again. Hmmm…

Now Farraday is offering to ferry people off the island - good guy after all? Kate gives Baby Aaron to Sun and heads off with Sayid to find Jack and Sawyer. I still don’t see how they’re going to get the “6″ together - they’re all in different places - and there’s Jin on the boat with Sun - so what happens to him?

Flash-forward: Go, Sun! She’s finally standing up to her father - not only that, she now owns a controlling interest in his company. Good for her. She says that there are two people responsible for Jin’s death, and her father is one of them. Who is the other?

While we’re on a commercial, let’s talk about Claire. I’ve seen a theory around the Web that she really died when her cabin in Othersville blew up, and that she was just a walking corpse, like Christian Shephard. What do you think? Something is weird - her little coy smile as she rocked in Jacob’s cabin, seemingly unconcerned with the fact that she left her child in the jungle. I can’t imagine her leaving Aaron unless she was dead.

Flash-foward: Hurley and a take-out bag at his parents’ big house. And he sees a coconut. Hears whispering. This must be the beginning of his off-the-island “madness.” Nope, just a surprise party. And his mom telling him, “Jesus Christ is not a weapon.” :) An island-themed surprise birthday party - real sensitive on his parents’ part.

His present is a restored classic car - and the odometer just happens to be showing the numbers.

Back to island-time: Locke, Hurley, and Ben arrive at the Orchid, and Ben admits he was lying when he said he had no idea why the freighter people came to the island. Big surprise. Ooo, the freighter baddies are already there.

Geez, another commercial. Is it my imagination, or are there more than usual?

Farraday, Jin, Sun, Baby Aaron, and some other survivors we’ve never seen before have reached the frieghter, and Farraday’s off to pick up some more. Jin and Sun have just seen Michael, who says the engine is now fixed. The freighter can’t get in close to the island: something is interfering with their ability to see where the reef is.

Jack and Sawyer have reached the chopper, and there’s Lapidus. Lapidus is ready to fly them off the island, if they unshackle him.

Flash-forward to Jack eulogizing his father. Who is still “alive” on the island. And a woman approaches Jack - Claire’s mother? Yep. She tells him that his father had a daughter in Australia, and that his half-sister was Claire. And then she walks out, right past her grandson. And we see Jack’s face as he realizes that Aaron is his nephew.

And commercials - a trailer for Prince Caspian. I’m hoping to take my kids to see it on Monday.

Island-time: Michael trying to explain his presence, his connection to Ben. And Desmond comes out yelling, “Michael, I need you - now!” The freighter is full of explosives.

Sayid and Kate are being followed, by the creepy Other, Richard. And now they’re surrounded by armed people.

Ben heads for the freighter baddies surrounding the Orchid, after leaving Locke some cryptic instructions.

Sun walks out of the explosive filled hold of the freighter. She looks back - was that her goodbye to Jin?

And, Ben gives himself up, and gets whacked in the head. And, we’re done. And we have to wait two weeks for the finale.

So, what do you think? It was a much less cryptic episode than the past couple have been. Except, who are the people who have captured Sayid and Kate? And how do the Oceanic 6 end up together, getting off the island? Any theories?

I think that Farraday didn’t know they were going to blow up the island, not in the beginning. That is why he got so scared and wanted to get off. I can’t believe the other chick didn’t go with him to get back on the freighter!

Cassie - I think you’re right. But Charlotte has always seemed more menacing than Farraday, somehow. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, just found your site, cool live-blog of the show. I agree that it wasn’t as cryptic, yet if you read Doc Jensen at EW.com (not trying to plug it, really) he has some more theories. Heck he has theories that I swear he has to be in on, because he knows way too much information, if you know what I mean.

It stinks that we have to wait two weeks for the finale, but heck maybe I can get the whole season in, online, before then. :)

Roger - I love Doc Jensen’s recaps, too, but he does stretch it a bit at times. :)

Hi Carrie! I’m with you…it’s not looking good or Desmond and Jin. Although I was prepared for Jin to die (bummed, but we’ve been told it happened), but I am NOT prepared at all for Desmond to die. He’s one of my favorite characters, and how we will get resolution to the Desmond and Penny romance? It’s sad enough that we know Jin, Sayid’s Nadia, and probably Claire are dead. I’m really going to be mad at the writers if they keep killing off beloved characters.

Cindy - I know, I am really hoping that Des finally get his Penny back. The romantic in me, I guess. Thanks for stopping by!
